International Capybara Appreciation Day

The internet is home to the content of almost any animal you can possibly imagine. Most people enjoy cute kittens, some like penguins, maybe even fish, but one of the most popular animals that’s got the internet in a choke hold right now is the Capybara. If you don’t already know what a capybara is then I am truly jealous of you because you get to discover them for the first time.

A Capybara is a large brown and furry type of rodent that is indigenous to South American countries. In fact, the Capybara is the biggest rodent in the world, standing at almost 4 feet and weighing up to 145 pounds. Many people have their different opinions on Capybaras but the general consensus is that they are both harmless and adorable.

Capybara Media

Today there are tens of hundreds of accounts posting daily content of capybaras on various platforms. Capybaras have become one of the most shared and cherished animals on the internet today. If you just look up the word capybara on the social media of your choice you will understand the size of coverage these creatures receive, all very deserving might I add. Here are a few examples of the type of coverage these beautiful creatures receive.

Story About Capybaras

A true story about everyone’s favorite large rodent, last year I truly had no idea what a Capybara was. That was until my roommate and fellow writer here TodoWafi, Gavin, would send me countless videos and images on Instagram about capybaras. I don’t know if he knew what was gonna happen next but for the next 8 months, my feed on Instagram has been mainly Capybara content. At first, I thought, “What the heck? It’s like a virus he put on my phone. I can’t stop seeing capybaras”. But now I completely adore the Capybara and have sent my brother over 100 videos of Capybaras doing the same thing to his feed that Gavin had done to mine.
