On Sunday, April 23rd President Joe Biden appointed Julie Chavez Rodriguez as his new campaign manager for the 2024 re-election. Chavez-Rodriguez works as the Director of Intergovernmental Affairs at the White House. The White Houses’ official website states, “Julie leads a team that has served as elected leaders, in state and local government offices, for nonprofits and intergovernmental associations,” She has written various pieces on political and economical issues such as Fixing Our Broken Immigration System: The Economic Case for Agricultural Industry and What Health Reforms Means for Latinos- and Young Sisters.

Julie Chavez-Rodriguez also comes from a long line of activists as her father works as of She is the grandchild of American labor activists Helen Fabela Chávez and labor leader Ceaser Chávez. Having a Latina woman lead the president's campaign gives me hope that real change is on its way for the Latino community.
