Dr. Kathia Gastélum is a latina making a difference. Dr. Gastélum has years of experience and 10 years of practice, providing help and hope to her community.

While all of this is impressive, her story doesn’t start there. Dr. Gastélum was born in the United States, but because her parents wanted her to stay connected and comfortable around her culture, her family moved back to Mexico. It was there that Dr. Gastélum was able to gain a well rounded education, having English as her second language.

Making Gains in Medical School

Dr. Gastélum attended medical school with the support of her family. Regardless of familial support, medical school is still abundantly challenging. The combination of being far from family while being in a predominantly male dominated field made coursework and getting in hours all the more difficult.

Although she has never received harassment from clients, male coworkers or higher-ups, she has heard many stories where others were. In addition to this, medical students and residents in Mexico are threatened with more work hours for making mistakes. This made the lesson of self-care and balance all the more valuable for her and for her to address with her professional peers.

Dr. Gastélum shared her own self-care actions to be “hanging out with family, going out to parties, and making sure to rest.”

Dr. Gastélum’s Specialty; Weight Loss

In a time and place where people are finally giving themselves permission to get better, there are now a multitude of ways to reach your goals.

With the weight loss industry in flux and constantly bombarding you with quick  unsustainable weight loss methods it’s difficult to ascertain what the best thing to do is. As a Latina, Dr. Gastélum understands the importance of offering realistic solutions to combat long term life threatening illnesses.

She has been practicing and perfecting this FDA approved procedure even before the bariatric surgery boom. She believes in taking a hands-on approach to help you be successful and achieve your objective.

With an 84% success rate making it one of the most effective weight loss procedures available the Spatz3 gastric balloon is a non-surgical, non-invasive and a non-permanent option to weight loss.

This gastric balloon method is inserted orally through your esophagus and placed directly into your stomach. It’s about a 30 minute procedure requiring mild sedation with no need for incisions resulting in long term scars.

After the first six to twelve months on the program the balloon is removed. By building healthy habits throughout the duration of the program you can set yourself up for long term results beyond the program.

If the uncertainty and confusion on where to start with your weightloss journey has turned into a heavy burden and it seems like you haven’t found the answer that works for you let Dr. Kathia Gastélum at Baja Endoscopic be your guide.
