Hold onto your vibranium, Marvel fans—because the ruler of Talokan is making a splashy return! That’s right, Tenoch Huerta Mejía is officially suiting up (or rather, suiting down) once again as Namor in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.
During today’s (March 26) livestream, Marvel Studios played Santa Claus and gifted fans an avalanche of casting announcements for the next Avengers blockbuster. So far, we’ve got the return of Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, and Florence Pugh. Oh, and Vanessa Kirby—who is stepping into some mystery role (Sue Storm, is that you?). But now, the big news: Huerta is back, baby.
Of course, this announcement isn’t without controversy. Huerta was accused of sexual misconduct in 2023 by musician and activist María Elena Ríos, a former member of the activist group Poder Prieto, where Huerta is a spokesperson. The allegations caused a stir post-Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but Marvel seems to be moving forward with his return.
Now, back to the fun stuff—Namor is gearing up to join (or possibly fight against) Earth’s mightiest heroes as they take on none other than Victor von Doom. And who’s donning the metal mask? The one and only Robert Downey Jr. (Yes, really. The comeback of all comebacks.)
Get ready for epic battles, underwater flexing, and possibly more memes of Namor in tiny shorts when Avengers: Doomsday crashes into theaters on May 1, 2026.
