In our very first video interview and a Gold Edition Episode, we have the pleasure of speaking to Jessica Darrow the voice of “Luisa” of Disney’s Animated Motion Picture “Encanto”. We talk about her journey, and what representation of our culture means.

Our Special Guest – Jessica Darrow: The Voice of Disney’s Encanto “Luisa”

Jessica Darrow’s a Cuban-American actress. She was born on January 7, 1995 in Miami, Florida. She studied theater at Shakespeare’s Globe Theater in London for 5 months. Afterwards, she graduated from Rutgers University w/ a BFA in acting. She resides in New York City w/ her orange tabby cat Giles.

She plays Luisa in Disney animated film Encanto (2021).

“I love Disney so much. I’ve been obsessed with it since I was a baby. I know all these films and I actually felt like growing up I really wanted to meet a family that felt closer to mine,” she said. “So to see a family like this on screen feels so important and significant, especially right now, and I definitely wanted to grow up seeing something that felt closer to my own story. And this is it.”
