He is a Peruvian-American Para-athlete competing for the US Track and Field Team. He is also a veteran that served for the U.S. Army in Baghdad, Iraq. In 2006, his convoy was hit by an explosive device which led to both of his legs being amputated. Since 2007 he started competing in different sports such as running and swimming. He got to bear the torch at the 2013 Warrior Games.
