When exactly IS “Modelo Time”?

There is a long-standing internet trend surrounding the finest of commercial cervezas a man can find. The beverage I am talking about is a Modelo and the trend I’m talking about is celebrating Modelos by announcing “ITS MODELO TIME” . This would then be followed by a funky techno beat if done right. This internet joke has been around for years now and somehow stuck with the Modelo culture globally. I personally love it and have heard it for years to the point where I thought it was an actual slogan they went by. At this point, I was fascinated and I needed to discover more, I wanted to know when IS “Modelo Time”?

As previously stated “Modelo Time ” is actually not a campaign run by the Modelo brand itself. But to be honest, I’m sure they love the trend just as much as we do. There is no better advertisement than just videos of people drinking your product and having a great time. But no, Modelo did not have any say in the creation of “Modelo Time” and I wouldn’t be surprised if the brand didn’t know what time it was either. 

The trend itself is a long-lasting trend with videos dating back years, and amassing millions of views. I personally went and watched/listened to as much content about “Modelo Time ” as I could. However, doing this did not lead me to find out what time “Modelo Time” is, but it did help my search in other ways. I was able to find out that the song that always plays when it is “Modelo Time” is the song, Don’t Stop the Rock (Instrumental) by an artist called Freestyle.

As my search continued I felt like I was getting further and further away from the answer I was looking for, when IS “Modelo Time”? I saw videos of people celebrating with Modelos at all times of the day and night. People were also celebrating all around the world. As I was losing hope, I realized that the best way to find out when Modelo time was is to see when the first evidence of the trend was put online. Who was the person who started “Modelo time”? 

Finding the Real Answer.

So I went digging, through years and years of videos to find the one with the earliest date posted. After looking through hundreds of posts just trying to find the one posted first, I finally found it. It was the Instagram user @Passdapookie who posted the first video related to “Modelo Time” back in 2016. However, after all my searching I found that the @passdapookie account had been taken down and came back under a different name in 2018 after going viral. So unfortunately, I could not uncover the original “Model Time” video but there were reuploads of the real original. This would of course mean that I could not find the exact time “Modelo Time” is or link the original video here, but I have come up with a better answer. Modelo Time must be a state of mind, a state where you are at ease and ready to enjoy some nice cold beverages, perhaps with some nice company. @Passdapookie is forever an internet icon by creating the “Modelo Time” meme, and who knows how much he has boosted Modelo sales. For now “Modelo Time” will continue to live on and be enjoyed around the world.
