Todo Wafi had the privilege of covering the red carpet at the 2023 Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF) west coast premiere of Eva Longoria’s fictional feature directorial debut FLAMIN’ HOT (for Searchlight Pictures on Hulu and Disney+).
FLAMIN’ HOT is based on the inspiring true story of Richard Montañez (Jesse Garcia) who as a Frito Lay janitor disrupted the food industry by channeling his Mexican American heritage to turn Flamin’ Hot Cheetos from a snack into an iconic global pop culture phenomenon. FLAMIN’ HOT brings a compelling story to the big screen, with outstanding performances from Jesse Garcia, Annie Gonzalez, Dennis Haysbert, and Emilio Rivera, among others.
In Attendance: Director and Award-Winning Actress Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives, Tell It Like a Woman), and talent in the film including Annie Gonzalez (Gentefied), Jesse Garcia (Quinceañera), Emilio Rivera (Sons of Anchary), Pepe Serna (Scarface), Bobby Soto (The Tax Collector), Fabian Alomar (This Fool and Cholos Try), Vanessa Martinez (Dirty John), Eric Marq (The Way It Goes) and Alejandro Marin. Plus, Producer DeVon Franklin (Miracles from Heaven) and Writer Linda Yvette Chavez (Gentefied).
We were able to talk to a few of the cast and crew about the making of the film.
