Jennifer Lopez Is Back in Action in the New @NetflixFilm Thriller ‘The Mother’ scheduled for release on Mother’s Day weekend. Playing a deadly female assassin she comes out of hiding to protect the daughter that she gave up years before, while on the run from dangerous men.
The movie’s cast also includes Joseph Fiennes (British arms dealer Adrian Lovell and the Mother’s military mentor ), Lucy Paez (Zoe, the Mother’s 12-year-old daughter), Omari Hardwick (FBI agent William Cruise), Paul Raci (Jons, the Mother’s former comrade in arms who helps her start over in Alaska), and Gael Garcia Bernal (Arms dealer Hector Álvarez ).
In an interview with PEOPLE Director Niki Caro (“The Whale Rider,” “Mulan”) said “she loved bringing Lopez back to the action genre’ and “The only thing that surprised me was that Jennifer hadn’t been an action movie hero her entire career,”
“Oftentimes mothers in movies are appendages to other, more interesting characters. This time the mother is front and center, and she is badass,” says Caro. “Having Jennifer Lopez in the role, at the height of her powers, is a gift to mothers and audiences everywhere.”
