It’s hard to believe that our beloved Dora was introduced to us 23 years ago! The animated show, Dora The Explorer premiered on Nickelodeon back in the year 2000 and for so many families, it was finally the representation that we wanted to see. Dora is an adorable explorer, with big brown eyes, and brown hair, who is intelligent, and inquisitive, and loves to learn new things with her sidekick Boots, the monkey.
She is portrayed as a heroic young Latina girl who embarks on countless adventures in order to find something or help someone in need. She even spoke Spanish with catch phrases like, “Hola, soy Dora,” and “Lo hicimos! We Did it!”
According to a Nickelodeon spokesman, “she was developed to be pan-Latina to represent the diversity of Latino cultures.”
Recently in 2022, Paramount+ shared that there is a live-action series in development. We haven’t seen the last of Dora!
I don’t know about you, but I think it’s time to binge watch all of the episodes with my daughter like we used to when she was younger. I do suspect it’s the very reason why she always asks for a purple backpack.
