Rhythmic humming while crouched over a keyboard, the familiar buzz of a sewing machine, a book, un jardín, a project yet to be completed. Vibrant color from paint, our rich and aromatic spices, and the freshly placed flowers on the table; a vision of home. Bursts of laughter coming from that spot as whispers of the latest chisme are heard from the corner; animated communication. A veil of shade from gorros and sombreros blocking the blistering sun from our ojos; tradition. Remedios passed down from generations; healing. Countless other experiences, memories, and sense-based images come to mind when thinking about my Latino culture. I also think of experiences in which I have yet to experience or stories that have yet to be heard.
This Hispanic Heritage Month, we hope to empower you through our culture and creativity. We hope to remind you of your roots, to teach you the traditions we’re so proud to have, and to expose the progress that we as a team have made alongside the culture as a whole. Being a part of this team is and always will be an absolute honor. We’ve put in so much work for every podcast or panel recording, article, post, and more. For generations, our families and ancestors have put in the work to make our culture flourish. It is now with pleasure and ganas that the Wafi team explodes into the forefront for Hispanic Heritage Month. It is my pleasure to pull back the curtain on Hispanic Heritage Month for you all to enjoy.
